Opening

So, this is Astro Bot, by far my favorite game that came out in 2024!! This game is so great and I'm soo happy it won GOTY at The Game Awards. It's such a shame that this game only sold about 1.5 million copies, because even though that is great number, Sony might not see it as enough sales to continue letting Team Asobi making more Astro Bot games. But to be fair, they did win GOTY, so a new game should still be on the horizon.

Intro to Astro Bot

I got this game the midnight after it came out, and I couldn't stop playing it until 3AM, it was just that good. Astro Bot is a 3D platformer where you play as the the titular character, Astro Bot. You explore the multiple galaxies containing levels, in which you rescue bots, collect stuff, fight bosses, and complete challenges. I like this game because its very comforting and its a great game to play after a rough day. All you have to do is enter a level and enjoy it! Like I just mentioned, you can rescue other bots, and you can collect puzzle pieces, both are the two main collectables in this game. They are not very hard to find/collect, and if you are having trouble getting them, you can use Playstation's hint system which will show you a video displaying how to collect them.

Praises & Compliments

Like I said earlier, this game is fun to play after a rough day, as it's soo charming and brings me so much joy!! I love the adorable sound effects Astro makes when he is excited, and the other bots too. This game's music SLAPS especially the music that plays during the button challenges (Perseverance), even though I think a lot of this game's music is remixed from previous Astro games. This game has a great art style and graphics, it's visually beautiful. All the levels look so distinct. Lastly, this game has a simple yet effective and fun gameplay loop. Exploring levels and finding secrets can be so rewarding, and levels end before they get too boring! I also love the Playstation button challenge levels, they are great refresher from the main levels, and are reasonably difficult.

Closing Thoughts

The only somewhat negative thing I have to say about Astro Bot, but honestly platformers don't even need to be that long, and all this game's content is nice and compact, so thats not at all a bad thing. After release, this game has gotten tons of new levels as FREE DLC, so I'm definately coming back to this game. To show my appreciation for this work of art, I even got the Playstation platinum trophy!! This game fully deserves GOTY!!! Can you tell I love this game? I also kinda want this game to come to PC, as I think mods would be so great for this game, and it could really boost sales. But I also don't want it to because I like this game as a PS5 exclusive, which this console needs more of. Anyways, if you have a PS5 and you haven't already, play Astro Bot!! Or you could wait for it to come to PC, as a lot of PS5 games do. Thanks for reading!!
